DAVOS: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has said the latest developments in Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip appear positive and offer grounds for optimism.
He made the remarks while attending a public session titled “Diplomacy amid Disorder” at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 sessions held in Davos, Switzerland, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday.
The foreign minister emphasised that the Middle East possesses the immense potential to achieve a better future despite the challenges and recent risks it has faced. He added that the latest developments in Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip appear positive and offer grounds for optimism.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan said the immense potential and abundant resources of Syria, describing this as a genuine opportunity to guide Syria toward a highly constructive path. He underscored the critical role of the international community in supporting such progress and aiding the Syrian people in their pursuit of a brighter future.
The foreign minister said Saudi Arabia has observed a strong willingness from the new Syrian government to collaborate with regional partners and the international community. He mentioned his recent meeting with Syria’s foreign minister in Riyadh, along with his participation in last week’s Riyadh discussions on Syria, which were hosted by Saudi Arabia.

He stressed the importance of lifting sanctions on Syria to enable broader assistance to the Syrian people, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s early humanitarian and relief efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering in Syria.
About Lebanon, Prince Faisal bin Farhan described the election of a new president after a prolonged political vacuum as “highly positive.”
Additionally, he emphasised the importance of Lebanon pursuing serious reforms that reflect the aspirations of the Lebanese people for a better future. He expressed hope that the Lebanese people themselves will take responsibility for decisions that steer their country toward a different and more stable path.
