Pakistan Day was observed to mark the historic Lahore Resolution adopted on 23rd March in 1940, under which Muslims of the sub-continent set the goal of a separate motherland for themselves. The day dawned with 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered in mosques following Fajar prayers for prosperity and progress of Pakistan.
