RIYADH: The Saudi Naval Forces are participating in the joint naval-air exercise “Medusa 13” in the Hellenic Republic, along with forces from the host country, Egypt, France, and Cyprus, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
According to the SPA, the exercise Commander, Colonel Naval Commander Fahd Al-Humaidi Al-Otaibi, elaborated that the drill aims to build alliances and joint security cooperation in order to enhance naval security. The SPA added that it also focuses on managing and executing joint combat missions using modern arms, coordinating between units to combat non-traditional maritime threats, as well as exchanging expertise in securing the theatre of operations against threats.
SPA cited Colonel Naval Commander Fahd Al-Humaidi Al-Otaibi as saying that the Saudi Naval Forces’ participation includes various units from the Special Naval Security Units, His Majesty’s Ships, Marine Infantry, and Naval Aviation. The joint exercise will take place on the Greek island of Crete and in operational areas in the Mediterranean Sea. It will also involve military operations, information operations, an amphibious assault, as well as civilian evacuation.
