Saudi Traditional Dishes Promoted at Irth Café

RIYADH: The Culinary Arts Commission has announced the launch of “Irth,” a new store and café concept celebrating and supporting Saudi Arabia’s culinary heritage, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The Culinary Arts Commission announced the “Irth,” cafe in Madinah, Riyadh and Jeddah, “Irth” (meaning “heritage” in Arabic) aims to provide a platform for domestic chefs and producers to showcase their talents as well as products.

The step seeks to promote and support local chefs by featuring unique Saudi dishes as well as offering a space for local producers to showcase and sell their items to a broader audience.  The first “Irth” stores will be opened in Madinah and Jeddah in mid-September, with the Riyadh branch scheduled to follow in October, the commission said.

The Culinary Arts Commission hopes to encourage culinary innovations and elevate the profile of Saudi cuisine both at domestic and international level through this project.

“Irth” is planned as a hub for local culinary talent, allowing Saudi chefs to present creative interpretations of traditional dishes and fostering collaboration and innovation among food industry specialists and local producers.
