Saudi Railways said that 31 women have completed training to drive the high-speed train.

The Haramain train between Makkah and Madinah is among the fastest trains in the world.

Saudi woman Sara Al Shehri said that she and her colleagues were the first to drive a high-speed train in the Middle East and she was proud of it.

Noorah Hisham, another Saudi woman, who has completed training, said it was a job of great responsibility. “The safety of those who come for Umrah, Hajj and Ziarat is the responsibility of the Haramain express drivers,” she said.

Saudi female driver Shajin al-Mursi said that it was a matter of great pride to be part of the first group to receive training to drive a train. “I will serve my country by driving the express train,” she said.
