Saudis in Makkah Allowed to Rent out Their Housing Units to Hajj Pilgrims

ISLAMABAD: The Pilgrims’ Housing Committee at the Makkah Mayoralty in Saudi Arabia has announced that it has started receiving applications from its citizens seeking permission to rent out their residential units to Hajj pilgrims.

The committee called on owners of all the housing units in the holy city, who wish to rent out their housing units to accommodate the pilgrims, to contact the designated engineering offices to complete the procedures for issuance of permits for their residential units in this regard. The mayoralty stated that it would continue receiving applications from citizens over the coming days.

There are several engineering consulting offices accredited by the Civil Defense and the mayoralty to inspect the pilgrims’ housing units to verify whether they fulfilled the terms and conditions stipulated in the regulations, and issue a fitness certificate in this regard. The mayoralty further stated that on the basis of this, the Pilgrims Housing Committee will issue permits for the residential units to accommodate the pilgrims.

Accommodations for Hajj pilgrims

The committee asked the citizens to contact it to know about the specified terms and conditions to facilitate the issuance of permits for using their housing units as accommodation for the pilgrims, Saudi Gazette reported. Makkah and Madinah cities can offer different types of accommodations for Hajj pilgrims from luxurious four-star hotels to apartments and rooms to hire and share.

The mayoralty has asked all building owners intending to rent out their units to fulfil the requirements, as well as all the safety and security elements required to be provided, in accordance with the regulations regarding construction and safety requirements. — APP
