KARACHI: Governor State Bank (SBP), Jameel Ahmad Khan on Monday said that the bank would soon issue no currency notes in the country. In an informal talk with the journalist after the press conference over the Monetary Policy, governor said that purpose of the move connected to the scores of the complaints by the masses over fake notes across the country.
He further said that all notes would be introduced in different colors, serial numbers while having quality designs and high security futures adding that these new notes would be printed under International Security Futures
The governor further stated that the design framework for all the new currency notes has been initiated and expected to be completed by March this year.
Issue of Fake Currency Notes
It is worth noting here the last couple of months witnessed scores of reports about circulation of fake notes in the market, particularly the big notes including that of RS 5000. People felt worried about circulation of these notes and complained via media that government should take concrete measures to counter the illegal practice.
The recent move is likely to be a part of the response of these complaints. The government also decided that unlike India, government of Pakistan would no go for any change in the currency suddenly and would act gradually.
