SC to Take Up Petitions Regarding General Elections, Military Courts Today

ISLAMABAD: In a day packed with significant legal activity, the Supreme Court of Pakistan is all set to hear two crucial cases today; petitions regarding the holding of general elections in a span of 90 days and the trial of civilians in the military courts.

Both cases hold immense significance for the political landscape and justice system Pakistan.

A three-member bench of the apex court will be hearing a set of petitions regarding the holding of elections within 90 days. The other two members of the bench are Justice Aminuddin and Justice Athar Minallah.

The issue has drawn attention due to its potential to shape the future of the country’s politics as it pertains to the timeline of general elections in the country.

The second case slated for today is the trial of civilians in military courts. This matter has been in the legal spotlight for quite some time, and today marks another chapter in its proceedings.

A five-member bench, led by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, will be presiding over the proceedings. The other four members of the bench are Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Mazahir Naqvi, and Justice Ayesha Malik.

This case has seen a total of 12 hearings until today. The Court has issued notices to all parties concerned.
