HELSINKI, Finland: In a harrowing incident on Tuesday, a minor opened fire at a school located in Vantaa, just outside the Finnish capital Helsinki, resulting in injuries to three individuals. Police swiftly responded to the scene and confirmed that the assailant was in custody.

The school, which accommodates approximately 800 pupils and employs 90 staff members, caters to students in grades one to nine, spanning ages seven to 15.

Authorities initially reported the shooting shortly after 10:00 am local time, indicating that there were casualties as a result of the incident. Police were alerted to the scene at 09:08 am and later clarified that both the suspect and the victims were minors.

Following the shooting, the city of Vantaa activated its crisis response team to manage the situation effectively.
