SDRPY Launches Water Security Enhancement Project in Yemen

ADEN: The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has started a project to enhance water security using renewable energy in the Aden Governorate in Yemen, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

The initiative will directly benefit at least 800,000 Yemenis living in different districts of Aden, and indirectly help around 1.5 million in the area. The program is a joint endeavor of SDRPY and the Selah Foundation for Development.

The project will sustainably enhance the amount of potable water pumped by utilizing renewable energy. It will also promote the use of solar energy, efficiency of water resource management, train workers in the maintenance and improve the capacity of Aden’s water authority to meet the basic water needs of its subscribers. The scheme will also help key areas in providing essential services in Aden.

The project is aimed to improve the efficiency of water infrastructure fields, lower carbon emissions, reduce operational costs and create job opportunities.

SDRPY has implemented sustainable development initiatives and projects and in various key sectors such as health, education, energy, water, agriculture, transportation and fisheries, capacity building for the Yemeni government, and development programs across Yemen.
