ISLAMABAD: The federal capital’s administration has imposed Section 144 in Islamabad, banning gatherings outside courts.

The restriction is part of the ongoing security arrangements, and strict action will be taken against any protest outside the courts. However, relevant people, lawyers, and journalists will be allowed access to courts during hearings. It has been decided that political party workers would not be allowed to come to court during the appearance of political leaders.

The decision comes after many workers forcibly entered the court premises and vandalized the infrastructure during the recent hearing of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan.

The PTI workers protested against the government and chanted slogans, causing major damage. The latest measure aims to prevent such incidents from happening in the future and ensure that court proceedings are conducted peacefully and without any disruption.

Restrictions to continue till further notice

The implementation of Section 144 and the restriction on gatherings outside courts are expected to continue until further notice.

Public have been advised to ensure compliance with these measures to avoid untoward incidents.

The authorities have urged political parties to ensure their workers do not engage in violent activities that could endanger public safety and disrupt court proceedings.
