PESHAWAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Khyber, Captain (Retd) Sanaullah Khan, has issued a notification enforcing Section 144 throughout the district to ensure the peaceful conduct of general elections. This action follows directives from the Department of Interior and Tribal Affairs.
The notification specifically prohibits the public display of both licensed and unlicensed weapons. However, it’s important to note that security agencies are exempted from the restrictions outlined in Section 144.
The notification said, “Section 144 has been implemented to maintain peace and security during the social and political activities of the election campaigns. Section 144 will remain in effect for 15 days until February 10.” —APP
