PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar Muhammad Zubair has emphasized the need to expedite the ongoing ‘Peshawar Beautification Project progress as he banned swimming and boating in the district.

As part of his weekly visit to the project sites, the Commissioner inspected the Hayatabad Jogging Track and several other projects being undertaken in the University Town.

The Project Engineer, Muhammad Adeel, briefed the Commissioner on the transparent nature of the ongoing work, stating that all projects under the ‘Peshawar Beautification Project’ were progressing well.

He hoped the projects under the Uplift Programme Phase II would be completed before the deadline.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the current work pace but urged further acceleration of the construction activities.

He also emphasized the significance of ensuring a smooth traffic flow during the construction process, considering the difficulties the people faced.

Peshawar DC has imposed Section 144, prohibiting swimming and boating in essential waterways, including Azakhel Dam.

The decision was made due to the loss of precious lives caused by swimming and boating accidents resulting from a lack of preventive measures. The restriction aims to prevent the wastage of government resources in rescue and relief operations and safeguard the lives of the public.

The order also pointed up the potential risks posed by unexpected monsoon rains, floods, and other hazards in the location.
