ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces have achieved significant success in their ongoing operations against terrorism, disrupting the nefarious plans of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). These operations, carried out between April 1 and June 10, 2024, have been crucial in maintaining national security.

From Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Sindh, security forces conducted a total of 7,745 operations. The breakdown includes 2,701 operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4,902 in Balochistan, and 142 in Sindh. These efforts have resulted in the elimination of 181 terrorists: 128 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 51 in Balochistan, and 2 in Sindh.

In May alone, 12 terrorists were killed in Balochistan and 42 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, 61 terrorists were arrested from these regions during the same month. Many of these terrorists were neutralized while attempting cross-border infiltrations, thanks to timely intelligence and swift action by security forces.

The operations have effectively thwarted the TTP’s plans in urban areas, forcing the terrorist group to resort to targeting poor tribal communities for ransom and targeted killings. At least 20 infiltration attempts in Bajaur, Dir, and Chitral were foiled due to proactive intelligence efforts.

In a significant breakthrough, a TTP network targeting Chinese citizens was dismantled in Bisham. Security forces ambushed terrorists infiltrating from the Zhob border, resulting in the deaths of 7 terrorists and the arrest of 2. Another 12 terrorists were ambushed and killed in D.I. Khan and Tank, and 19 terrorists were eliminated during an operation in North Waziristan.

Further operations in Lakki Marwat led to the arrest of 11 terrorists, while infiltration attempts in Pishin and Qila Abdullah were foiled, resulting in 5 terrorists killed and 1 arrested. Security forces also captured two suicide bombers, including an Afghan citizen, and their handlers, recovering suicide jackets.

A large cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, including 4 suicide jackets and 14 IEDs, was recovered during these operations in Balochistan. Additionally, a major TTP plan to attack during Muharram in Quetta was thwarted, eliminating the terrorist network.

The TTP leadership is reportedly in disarray and panic due to the relentless operations by Pakistan’s security forces. With strong national support, the security forces remain determined to eradicate terrorism from the country, reaffirming that there is no place for TTP or any terrorist group on Pakistani soil.
