RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces have killed 27 terrorists during an intelligence based operation in Kacchi District of south western Balochistan province, a military statement said on Monday.
The Inter Services Public Relations in a statement said, the killed terrorists were involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces as well as innocent civilians and were highly wanted by law enforcement agencies.
The ISPR said during the conduct of the operation, the troops stealthily surrounded and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, and after an intense fire exchange, 27 terrorists were sent to hell.
It said multiple hideouts, including caches of arms, ammunition and explosives, were also destroyed during the operation.
“Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan,” the ISPR concluded.
Since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has been grappling with a surge in violent attacks, particularly in the bordering provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The year 2024 emerged as the deadliest in a decade for Pakistan’s civil and military security forces, with at least 685 fatalities and 444 terror attacks, according to the “CRSS Annual Security Report 2024” released by the Centre for Security and Strategic Studies.
