Security Forces Kill Eight Terrorists in Northwestern Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces on Thursday killed eight terrorists in separate operations in South Waziristan and Lakki Marwat districts of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a military statement said.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Sararogha area of the South Waziristan district on the reported presence of terrorists.

“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khwarij’s (terrorists) location as a result of which two khwarij, including kharji ring leader Khan Muhammad [alias] Khoryay, were killed while two khwarij were apprehended,” the statement said.

The statement further said that the killed terrorist Khoryay was involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area including target killing and extortion. “He was highly wanted by the Law Enforcement Agencies and the Government had fixed head money of Rs 1 million on him,” said the ISPR.

Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in Lakki Marwat District and after an intense fire exchange, six khwarij were successfully neutralised by the security forces.

“Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other kharji found in the area, as security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the news release said.

A day earlier five terrorists were killed and two others were injured during an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat.

It is pertinent to mention that three terrorists were killed in two separate security operations in Khyber and South Waziristan districts while a policeman and a local elder were martyred in roadside bomb explosions in Bajaur tribal district on November 23.

Twelve personnel were martyred while six terrorists were killed after a checkpost was targeted in the Mali Khel area of KP’s Bannu on November 19.
