Senate of Pakistan’s 50th Anniversary Celebrated

ISLAMABAD: Rashidally Soobadar, the Mauritius High Commissioner to Pakistan, congratulated the Chairman Senate and his team on organizing an event to commemorate the Senate of Pakistan’s 50th anniversary.

Senate: critical for country’s progress

He stated that strong institutions were critical for the country’s progress. According to him, the proper functioning of institutions ensures the rule of law, accountability, and good governance in any country. He said that democracy guarantees freedom of expression, movement, and worship.

Atadjan Movlamov, Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, expressed his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the upper house of Parliament’s 50th anniversary. He stated that the Senate of Pakistan had emerged as an essential organ and a stabilizing factor for the federation over the years.

He stated that the Senate had played an important role in bolstering democratic values and ensuring the rights and full representation of the country’s people. He went on to congratulate Chairman Senate, all Pakistani parliamentarians, and all Pakistanis on the auspicious occasion of the upper House of Parliament’s golden jubilee’s 50th anniversary.

Senator Samina Mumtaz demanded that the ‘Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package’ promises made to Balochistan be fulfilled. She stated that small provinces should be given their due rights, and that a committee should be formed to review the 18th amendment’s implementation.

Senator Keshoo Bai of the PPPP thanked her party’s leadership for giving her the opportunity to serve in Pakistan’s Senate. She stated that she was honored to preside over a Senate session on International Women’s Day.

Adam M. Tugio, Indonesia’s ambassador to Pakistan, stated that relations between the Indonesian and Pakistani parliament were improving. He stated that parliamentarians from both countries were looking into ways to strengthen these ties.

Andrei Metelitsa, the Ambassador of Belarus to Pakistan, congratulated the Chairman Senate and the people of Pakistan on the Senate of Pakistan’s 50th anniversary. Belarus and Pakistan, he said, had established cordial bilateral and parliamentary relations. He stated that high-level Pakistani delegations had also visited Belarus numerous times. He also invited the Chairman of the Senate to accompany the delegation of parliamentarians to Belarus.

Yerzhan Kistafin, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Pakistan, congratulated the Senate on its golden jubilee and invited Senators to visit Kazakhstan in order to strengthen parliamentary relations.

Syrian Arab Republic’s Ambassador Ramez Alraee thanked the Pakistani government for extending assistance to Syrians in difficult times, particularly during the recent earthquake. He also wished Pakistan prosperity and progress. Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmed stated that the Senate truly deserves this important function that has expanded on its success stories.

He claimed that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto improved the country’s security by launching a nuclear program, which was completed by PML-N supremo Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He stated that the Constitution was a public document that must be followed in both letter and spirit.

Chakkrid Krachaiwong, the Royal Thai Ambassador to Pakistan, also congratulated the Senate on its golden jubilee celebrations and stated that ties between Pakistan and Thailand would strengthen in the coming days.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ambassador in Pakistan, stated that Pakistan and Iran have strong parliamentary relations that will be strengthened in the coming days. Senator Manzoor Ahmed Kakar stated that the Senate represented all federating units and worked hard to elevate the people’s voice. He stated that important legislation had been introduced in the Senate, which provided guidelines to governments in difficult situations.
