ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has ‘taken into custody’ PTI Senator Saifullah Niazi for interrogation on Friday).
Earlier, former federal minister Asad Umar came to media to state that senator Niazi has been taken into custody by the FIA but the investigation agency denied arresting Senator Saifullah Niazi from senate premises saying it a baseless news. It said the senator was not arrested by any wing of the FIA so far. Later Interior minister Rana Sanaullah confirmed his arrest in a press conference.
Hamid Zaman who is founder member of PTI is also taken into custody by FIA from his office in Lahore. He has been arrested in connection with a foreign funding case. According to the FIA sources $0.625 million were deposited by Hamid Zaman in a bank account of Insaf Trust back in 2013 when he was secretary of Insaf Trust. The FIA believes that the Insaf Trust didn’t act in accordance with the rules and regulations.
