BEIJING: Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, held a meeting with Khalil Hashmi, the Pakistani Ambassador to China.
During the meeting, Liu Jianchao highlighted the continued robust development of China-Pakistan relations under the guidance of the leaders of both nations in recent years.
Expressing China’s commitment, Liu affirmed China’s willingness to collaborate with Pakistan in implementing the significant consensus reached by their leaders.
This includes strategizing the future phases of China-Pakistan cooperation, supporting Pakistan’s economic reform and development, particularly through the high-quality advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and fostering deeper cultural exchanges and engagements across various sectors such as politics, parliament, local governance, think tanks, media, and youth affairs.
Liu mentioned the lasting strength of the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan, emphasizing their joint efforts in international and regional affairs to strengthen peace and development.
Ambassador Hashmi reciprocated the sentiment, lauding Pakistan-China relations as a model for state-to-state relations. He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (CPEC) and affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China on issues crucial to its core interests, cementing its status as a reliable friend.
Hashmi expressed Pakistan’s deep appreciation for China’s remarkable development progress and its role in offering global initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, which have contributed to Pakistan’s own socio-economic development.
Furthermore, Hashmi reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to collaborating with China in upholding international and regional peace and stability. The meeting was attended by Sun Haiyan, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC. — APP
