TEHRAN: General Abbas Nilforoushan, a senior commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon that assassinated Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, state media reported on Saturday.
The official IRNA news agency confirmed the death, describing Nilforoushan as the deputy commander of Guards operations.
The Israeli airstrike on Lebanon killed Nilforoushan and Nasrallah.
General Nilforoushan had played a critical role in Iran’s military operations, overseeing several strategic initiatives across the region. His death alongside Nasrallah is seen as a major blow to both Iran and Hezbollah, as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East.
