SEOUL: Seoul, the capital of South Korea, experienced its most heavy single-day snowfall in December in more than 40 years on Saturday, with no reported weather-related deaths or injuries.

According to the country’s weather agency, the Korea Meteorological Administration, Seoul received 12.2 centimeters (4.8 inches) of snow on the preceding day, marking the most significant December snowfall since 1981. A heavy snow advisory was issued for the entire Seoul area on Saturday, but it was later lifted.

While Seoul faced traffic congestion due to the snowfall, the South Korean safety agency reported that there were no incidents of snow-related deaths or injuries in the city or other areas.

The Korea Meteorological Administration noted that other parts of South Korea also experienced snow or rain on Saturday. Despite the challenges posed by the heavy snowfall, the capital city managed the situation without any significant disruptions to public safety.
