MANILA: At least seven people, including two children, died on Saturday evening in a devastating fire that broke out in the densely populated Taytay municipality, southeast of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. The fire destroyed 40 houses, leaving at least 60 families homeless, according to local police.

Seven people, including two children, lost their lives in the tragic incident. Several families were caught in the flames, with some residents living in a house accessible only through a long and narrow alley. These victims were found hugging each other, unable to escape the blaze.

Taytay’s acting police chief, Joel Custodio, told AFP that the fire took about two hours to put out, with at least one person injured by falling debris. Investigators suspect faulty wiring inside one of the houses as the possible cause of the blaze.

The authorities have expressed their condolences to the families of the victims, and emergency services are providing aid to those affected. However, many families have lost everything they owned and are now left without a home.

This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred in the Philippines. Overcrowding, poor construction standards, and a lack of fire safety measures have contributed to the frequency and severity of fires in the country, especially in densely populated areas.

The government has been urged to take action to address these issues and prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.

The fire in Taytay municipality has resulted in the loss of seven lives, dozens of homes destroyed, and many families left homeless. The cause of the blaze is suspected to be faulty wiring, and emergency services are providing aid to those affected.
