Seven Killed in Multiple Incidents in Attock

ATTOCK: At least seven people were killed and another injured in multiple tragic incidents in various parts of Attock, local police and rescue sources said.

In the first incident, which took place on Monday’s early hours on the Hazara motorway (M-15) near Jehri Kass interchange, a devastating fire resulted in the deaths of five persons from the same family, who were travelling in a Suzuki van towards Haripur.

The fire, believed to have been caused by a potential short circuit, occurred at Kalla Katha range, leading to the killing of all passengers on board. They were hailing from Bannu and travelling to Haripur. Rescue 1122 rushed to the site and extinguished the fire, and removed the bodies.

Two Friends Drown in Attock Stream

In a separate incident, two teenage friends met a tragic end as they drowned in a stream near Jand on Monday. According to eyewitnesses and authorities, 18-year-old Javaid and his 19-year-old friend Ramzan had gone to the stream to escape the hot and humid weather. A sudden loss of control led to Ramzan’s drowning, and in an attempt to rescue him, Javaid also lost control, resulting in both of their drownings. Local volunteers later recovered the bodies and transported them to THQ hospital in Jand.

In another unfortunate event, a man sustained gunshot injuries while resisting a robbery attempt in Khagwani village within the jurisdiction of Hazro Police station.

Dilnawaz Khan was riding his motorcycle when two armed robbers on another motorcycle intercepted him. After snatching cash and valuables at gunpoint, Khan attempted to overpower the robbers. In response, they shot him and fled with their stolen loot.

The injured victim was promptly taken to THQ hospital in Hazro. The police registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
