WASHINGTON: A tornado killed several people in a small Iowa town as powerful storms swept through the Midwestern United States. Homes and businesses in Greenfield were destroyed, cars smashed and debris strewn across the landscape.

The devastation unfolded amidst a series of powerful storms that battered the Midwest, wreaking havoc across several states.

The streets of Greenfield were abruptly turned into scenes of chaos and despair as homes and businesses were reduced to rubble. The toll of the tragedy was confirmed by Iowa police during a news briefing, although the exact number of casualties remained unclear amidst the chaos.

Nebraska, Illinois, and Wisconsin were grappling with tornados, torrential rain, and widespread power outages. Across the region, the storms left communities reeling.

Sergeant Alex Dinkla of the Iowa State Patrol, speaking to reporters described a “good portion” of Greenfield as devastated.
