Several Died in Coach Crash on Eastern German Motorway

LEIPZIG: Several individuals were killed and others injured in a coach crash on a motorway near the eastern German city of Leipzig on Wednesday, as reported by police.

“Several people suffered fatal injuries in the serious accident on the A9 motorway. There are multiple casualties,” stated police in the state of Saxony via the social media platform X.

According to local media sources, five individuals lost their lives when a Flixbus veered off the busy A9 motorway, which links Berlin to Munich, before overturning onto its side.

Police indicated that the road heading toward Munich was shut down, and images depicted ambulances and helicopters rushing to the scene.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the accident are currently unclear,” stated Flixbus, while also expressing cooperation with emergency services to ascertain the details. The coach, en route from Berlin to Zurich, was carrying 53 passengers and two drivers.
