ISLAMABAD: Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, General Counsel of ‘Sikhs For Justice’ (SFJ), which is leading the global Khalistan Referendum, is adamant that despite the Indian government’s bullets, the pursuit of the Khalistan Referendum and the liberation of Punjab from Indian occupation remains unwavering and unstoppable.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said in a statement that the Khalistan Referendum is the democratic expression of the Sikh people’s political viewpoint. It represents their aspirations for self-determination as stipulated in the UN Charter, with the goal of establishing an independent Sikh state in the Punjab region, which is now governed by India.

Bullets are being fired in response to Sikh people’s ballots, which will only continue a cycle of violence for which the Indian government bears complete responsibility.

He said that he believes that Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was murdered lately in Surrey, was the coordinator of the Khalistan Referendum in Canada. Pannun said that Nijjar was in charge of the campaign for the next election in Surrey on September 18, 2023. Pannun believes that Nijjar’s murder was planned by Indian officials, including Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval, Sumant Geol, and Dinkar Gupta.

Pannun said that since 1984, India has responded to the political question of Khalistan with violence, thus turning into an armed and armed violent conflict, emphasizing that Sikhs have a history of nonviolence, never beginning acts of violence. When Sikhs are exposed to violence, such as the murder of Hardeep Nijjar, a Khalistan Referendum advocate, they actively seek justice from the perpetrators by all means necessary and use all available forums for their cause.

He said that with the growing popularity of the global Khaliand Referendum, in which Sikhs are massively participating, there had been an increase in the severity of threats directed towards him both online and offline.
