Shab-e-Qadr: Muslims Observe Night of Blessings and Forgiveness with Religious Fervor

ISLAMABAD: Tonight (Monday night), Muslims around the world will observe Shab-e-Qadr with religious zeal and fervour. This blessed night is considered better than a thousand months and falls in the last 10 nights of Ramadan.

Shab-e-Qadr, also known as the night of power, is observed during the month of Ramadan and is considered a night of forgiveness and spiritual significance for Muslims. Believers across the country will spend the night in prayer and reflection.

On the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr, ceremonies will be held at mosques to mark the completion of the holy Qur’an recitation. Mosques have been decorated with electric lamps, and sweets will be distributed to mark the occasion.

Women will spend the night in prayers at home, while men will gather at mosques to worship. Reciters of the holy Qur’an in the Taraweeh prayers and their listeners will be rewarded with prizes and honours. Sehar arrangements have also been made for worshipers at mosques.

Millions of Muslims around the world will bow before Allah Almighty on this night, recite the Holy Qur’an, offer Nawafil, and perform other acts of worship.

They pray to the Almighty for the forgiveness of their sins as well as for the security and stability of their countries.

Shab-e-Qadr is reckoned as the night of blessings and forgiveness and is one of the most significant nights in the Islamic calendar. Muslims consider this night as an opportunity to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty for their sins and to attain closeness to Allah Almighty.

The night holds immense spiritual significance, and believers believe that the Almighty answers their prayers on this night.

Sindh govt announces holiday for Shab-e-Qadr

Meanwhile, in light of the upcoming Shab-e-Qadr, the Sindh provincial government has announced that all educational institutions across the province will remain closed on April 18.

The decision was made in accordance with the Steering Committee Meeting of the School Education and Literacy Department, Sindh Government, held on February 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, the federal government has announced a five-day holiday for Eid ul Fitr, which will begin on April 21 and end on April 25.

During this time, all government, semi-government, and private organizations, banks, factories, and educational institutions will remain closed.

After much confusion during the moonsighting meeting, Ramadan 2023 began on March 23.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, the moonsighting committee, is set to meet on April 20 to sight the crescent moon for Eid ul Fitr. The meeting will be held at the Islamabad religious affairs ministry and presided over by Ruet-e-Halal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

The meetings of the zonal committees will also be held at designated locations across the country. Further announcements regarding the Eid holidays are expected to be made following the sighting of the moon.

Sindh schools and colleges will remain closed on April 18 in honour of Shab-e-Qadr, while a five-day holiday has been announced for Eid ul Fitr starting from April 21.
