ISLAMABAD: Shabbir Ahmad Shah, a prominent figure within the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), currently held in New Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail, has called upon the United Nations to intervene and address the deteriorating situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
As reported by Kashmir Media Service, Shah, through a statement, stressed the immediate need to resolve the Kashmir dispute in alignment with UN resolutions.
Expressing profound concern over India’s attempts to violate the fundamental rights of people in occupied Kashmir and condemned the harsh and inhumane actions of Indian authorities. Shah criticized the use of military and police force to suppress the legitimate demand for the right to self-determination in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah specifically targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime for its oppressive strategies, asserting that they undermine the principles of a global village. He highlighted the dominance of non-Kashmiris in civil administration and bureaucracy, leading to the virtual alienation of the Muslim majority from trade, business, and bureaucracy, resembling the Dogra Maharaja rule of 1947.
Commending the courage and determination of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir, Shah declared a commitment to leveraging the sacrifices of the population to advance their just cause.
He appealed to the United Nations to take note of alleged Indian state terrorism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging intervention to halt the reported ruthless harassment, arbitrary arrests, and human rights abuses. Shah called for the UN to facilitate a resolution to the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions. —APP
