Shabbir Shah Hailed for Spending Around 38 Long Years in Prison for Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: Former Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference-AJK and acting chairman of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has paid tribute to senior APHC leader Shabir Ahmed Shah for his firm commitment to the Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination.

According to media reports, he lauded Shabir Ahmed Shah for completing about 38 years in jail and 8 consecutive years in India’s notorious Tihar prison, adding he has become an icon of the current movement in Occupied Kashmir.

Shabir Shah has spent about 38 years of his 68-year life in jails, detention, and interrogation centers due to his political philosophy.

Saghar also highlighted Shah’s key role as a strong proponent of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and his pursuit of a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in line with UNSC resolutions.  Despite suffering from acute illnesses, Shabir Shah also remains solid and undeterred in his position.
