ISLAMABAD: Vice Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mehmood Qureshi, has been ordered to be detained in Adiala Jail for 15 days based on three Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) orders issued by the Commissioner of Rawalpindi.

The decision, made on the advice of the Chief Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, is in connection with cases dated May 9, requiring an investigation into Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s alleged involvement.

Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi clarified in the detention order that Shah Mehmood Qureshi is named in the May 9 cases and needs to be investigated.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan had previously granted bail to Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Imran Khan against a bond of 1 million rupees, with the condition that any misuse of bail could lead to its cancellation.

The court’s written decision stated that there was no evidence of the offense under Section 5(3) B of the Official Secrets Act, and further inquiry into the accused’s actions under the Official Secrets Act would be determined by the trial court after examining the evidence.
