NEW DELHI: Bollywood Icon Shah Rukh Khan is set to be honored with the esteemed Pardo alla Carriera award at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival for his remarkable contributions to cinema over the past three decades.
Shah Rukh Khan will accept the Pardo alla Carriera award on August 10 at the Locarno Film Festival’s Piazza Grande, which will be presented to him after a special showcase of his iconic 2002 movie Devdas.
A special meet-and-greet session is lined up after the movie screening, where fans of Shah Rukh Khan will get the opportunity to have a conversation with the actor. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Devdas received numerous awards in India and also earned a British Academy of Film and Television Artist (BAFTA) nomination, garnering international recognition.
The movie features a talented cast, including Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Smita Jaykar, Kirron Kheer, and Vijayendra Ghatg, centers around Devdas Mukherjee (played by Shah Rukh Khan), who turns to alcohol after his family rejects his marriage to his childhood love, Parvati “Paro” (Aishwarya Rai).
According to media reports, Giona A. Nazzaro, Locarrno’s Artistic Director, exclaimed, “To welcome a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan in Locarno is a dream come true.”
