DURBAN: Pakistani pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has etched his name in the record books, becoming the first Pakistani bowler to claim 100 wickets in each of cricket’s three international formats.
Afridi achieved this historic milestone during the first T20 International against South Africa on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old fast bowler completed his 100 T20I wickets by dismissing South African opener Reeza Hendricks, a feat he accomplished in just 74 matches.
This achievement also makes Afridi the second-fastest Pakistani to reach 100 T20I wickets, behind Haris Rauf, who achieved the milestone in 71 games.
Afridi’s latest accomplishment places him in an elite group of cricketers globally who have taken 100 wickets in all three formats.
He joins New Zealand’s Tim Southee, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, and Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga in this distinguished club.
The left-arm pacer’s remarkable career stats now include 112 wickets in ODIs and 116 in Test matches, alongside his 100 in T20Is.
Afridi is only the third Pakistani to claim 100 T20I wickets, following Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan.
Afridi’s consistent performances have made him a cornerstone of Pakistan’s bowling attack across all formats.
