ISLAMABAD: Former cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi expressed his disagreement with the notion of not sending the Pakistani cricket team to India for the upcoming World Cup. Afridi emphasized the high-pressure nature of matches between India and Pakistan, stating that the Pakistani team is competitive and capable of defeating their opponents swiftly.

Afridi’s comments came during a media interaction where he also addressed recent changes in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) leadership.

Afridi highlighted the frequent changes in PCB chairpersons over the past eight months and suggested that the current chairman believes his predecessor did not perform well. Amidst the organizational changes, Afridi emphasized the importance of the players maintaining good fitness levels in preparation for the World Cup.

Pakistan Cricket Team’s Participation in World Cup

The statement from Afridi comes as discussions and debates surround the participation of the Pakistani cricket team in the World Cup, which is set to be hosted by India. The bilateral cricketing ties between India and Pakistan have been strained due to political tensions between the two nations. However, Afridi’s stance advocates for sportsmanship and encourages the team to compete against their arch-rivals on the cricket field.

As the cricketing world eagerly awaits the World Cup, Afridi’s support for Pakistan’s tour to India adds to the ongoing dialogue regarding the significance of cricketing exchanges between the two neighboring countries.
