Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Says Holding General Election in October Legal Requirement

LONDON: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday emphasized that holding general elections in October and November this year is a legal requirement in the country.

While talking to media in London, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi shared his insights on the upcoming general elections and his relationship with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party and its supreme leader, Nawaz Sharif.

Abbasi highlighted the importance of upholding the democratic principles enshrined in Pakistan’s constitution. He highlighted the importance of upholding democratic processes and ensuring timely elections in the country.

Abbasi also expressed his views on the dissolution of provincial assemblies, suggesting that such actions were aimed at creating chaos in the nation. He emphasized the need for stability and urged for responsible decision-making to avoid further political unrest.

No Differences with PML-N: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Addressing his relationship with the PML-N and Nawaz Sharif, Abbasi stated that he had no differences with the party or its leader. He clarified that his decision to step away from any position within the party was a result of his understanding that a change in leadership necessitated a corresponding adjustment in his own role.

Abbasi further revealed that he had conveyed his thoughts to Nawaz Sharif, explaining that it would be challenging for him to continue in any party position following a leadership change.
