In an exclusive pre-ICC World Cup opening interview scheduled for October 5, Sharfuddoula delves into the intricate details of his journey and sheds light on the unique challenges associated with umpiring in Bangladesh. Additionally, he unveils the secret behind his success.

The Path to Umpiring Sharfuddoula’s odyssey to the ICC World Cup unfolded with a twist of fate. Following an injury that curtailed his promising career in first-class cricket in 2001, he transitioned to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as its cricket operations manager. Driven by an unyielding passion for the sport, he boldly redirected his career trajectory in 2007, choosing to pursue a path as an umpire.

Since that pivotal decision, Sharfuddoula has become a prominent figure in international cricket, presiding over nine Tests, 54 one-day internationals, and 43 Twenty20 internationals.

His appointment as the fourth umpire for the opening match of the World Cup, featuring England and New Zealand, and as the on-field umpire for five subsequent matches, signifies a momentous milestone in his illustrious career.
