ISLAMABAD: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday ordered the relevant officials to remove defamatory and scandalous content on social media against the renowned actress Mehwish Hayat.

Mehwish Hayat approached the SHC over a defamatory campaign run against her on social media after the insinuations by a YouTuber against her.

YouTuber and a retired army officer Adil Farooq Raja, currently based in the United Kingdom had leveled serious allegations against Mehwish Hayat and some other actresses on 31 December. She used the initials of the actresses’ names in his allegations such as K.K, S.A, H.K, and M.H.

The netizens attached the initials of Sajal Aly, Kubra, and Mehwish Hayat who responded to the allegations on social media.

Mehwish Hayat approaches FIA but to no avail

The court issued notices to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and also sought answers from both parties within two weeks.

During the hearing, the lawyer representing the petitioner, Khwaja Naveed said that a person named Adil Raja was leveling allegations against Mehwish Hayat.

While the actress herself told the court that the accused has mentioned her name as M.H., the actress said that she also approached FIA in the matter but no action was taken by it.
