The request submitted stated that the caretaker government should be dissolved and replaced with a new setup.

The plea further maintained that the court should direct the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold the elections within 90 days.

Earlier on Wednesday, the ECP (Election Commission of Pakistan) announced postponing by-elections in Punjab, which were initially scheduled to be held on April 30.

The Election Commission withdrew the Punjab Election Program notification issued on March 8 and announced October 08 as the new date for elections in Punjab, citing security reasons, financial issues, and other hurdles.

According to reports, the commission spokesman has said that the president Dr Arif Alvi had been informed about the postponement of elections in Punjab, adding that the new election schedule will release soon.
