PESHAWAR: The Sikh community in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has continued its goodwill gesture of serving food and drinks among fasting Muslims during the holy month of Ramazan to promote love, respect, fraternity, and honour among people of different faiths.

Every year Sikh community living in different areas of the country, including Peshawar, arrange Iftari and food distribution among fasting Muslims to reflect the sentiments of reverence and respect they had for the holy month of Ramazan.

As the fasting month of Ramazan starts, the Sikh community in Peshawar comes out to arrange Iftar meals, announce Ramazan discounts in their shops for fasting Muslims and help the poor fasting faithful by providing them food at their doorsteps.

For ordinary citizens gathering colorful turban-wearing Sikhs to serve food for fasting Muslims at places like Bolton Block Lady Reading Hospital becomes very strange and amazing, leaving them in a state of bafflement.

Many Muslims are found sharing their feeling of love and respect over seeing Sikh youth standing in front of their doors to distribute food items for breakfast.

He said that each ration packet consists of essential items such as edible oil, chickpea, beans, rice, pulses, sugar, and tea.
