Sikh Pilgrims Attend “Baisakhi Mela”

ISLAMABAD: Thousands of Sikh pilgrims from across the world are attending the main event of Sikh religious festival, Baisakhi Mela at Gurudwara Panja Sahib, Hassan Abdal, local media reported on Sunday. As per media reports, thousands of Sikh pilgrims from across the world including India are taking part in the event. Minority leaders are attending the festival.

In a message on the occasion, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Sikh community on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, local media reported on Sunday.

The PM said it as a festival of kindness, jubilations and love. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of Baisakhi, describing the month of Baisakh as a symbol of spring, love, and the sharing of happiness and joy. The PM proudly acknowledged Pakistan’s rich tapestry of diverse cultures, saying that the vibrant colors of the Baisakhi festival only serve to further enhance the beauty of diversity and inclusion within the nation.

Pakistan PM Says Baisakhi is Festival of Happiness

Expressing the government of Pakistan’s readiness to warmly welcome Sikh pilgrims, Shehbaz Sharif has assured that every possible step would be made to ensure their felicitation and comfort during their stay in Pakistan.

On this special occasion, the PM conveyed a message of tolerance, kindness, peace and harmony. PM Shehbaz Sharif called upon everyone to strive for a society across the world that is peaceful and prosperous, asking all to play a positive role in its realization.

On Saturday, more than three thousand Sikh yatrees had arrived in Pakistan from India via Wagah border to attend the Baisakhi Mela.
