LONDON: Sikh for Justice has held a protest demonstration against Inviting Indian politician Rahul Gandhi to deliver lecture at Cambridge University London.
The protest demonstration was stated by ‘Sikhs for Justice’ at the University of Cambridge. A large number of Sikh activists and supports of Khalistan movement attended the protest demonstration. They chanted slogans against the university administration and Rahul Gandhi.
On the occasion Gurpreet Singh, the leader of the Sikh for Justice Movement and Paramjit Singh strongly criticized the decision of the Cambridge University to invite Rahul Gandhi. They said that Rahul Gandhi’s father and grandmother were involved in the atrocities against Sikh community in India. They highlighted historical grievances, stating that atrocities against Sikhs were at their worst during the tenures of Rahul Gandhi’s father and grandmother, particularly in Delhi and Punjab.
They asserted that extending invitations to individuals associated with such past events was unacceptable, especially within esteemed educational institutions like Cambridge. They demanded that the university refrain from inviting such controversial figures in the future.
They reiterated their stance, warning that if similar invitations were extended in the future, they would organize larger protests outside Cambridge University. The protest underlines ongoing tensions and historical grievances within the Sikh community, particularly regarding the treatment of Sikhs in India and their aspirations for self-determination.
