According to Reuters, the disclosures of the Canadian Prime Minister have sparked tensions between India and Canada, with each country expelling diplomats, and India suspending visas for the citizens of Canada.

Holding posters of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the protesters in front of the holiest of Sikh shrines chanted slogans demanding India to stop extrajudicial operations against separatist leaders seeking Indian Punjab as an independent country.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar left Indian Punjab a quarter-century ago and became a national of Canada. He has supported the formation of a Sikh country in India, Reuters reported.

According to Reuters, hundreds of Sikh activists took part in the protest demonstration and also held prayers at the Golden Temple for the release of political prisoners and for the well-being of the exiled Sikh leaders.

Paramjit Singh Mand, a leader of Dal Khalsa said that they thanked the Canadian government for exposing the Indian evil design, how New Delhi is operating on foreign land, intervening in affairs of Canada.

Earlier, Canadian Sikhs also held protest demonstrations in front of India’s diplomatic missions on Monday, burning India’s flag, while also waiving yellow flags marked with the word “Khalistan”.
