KARACHI: Governor of Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has announced free scholarships for talented students of the southern province who want to study abroad.

The Governor has set up a special cell at the Governor’s House to assist the students interested in the scholarship program.

The Governor said that students from across Sindh can participate in the program based on merit, and those selected will be sent abroad for higher education.

He said that because of the economic conditions, the country is facing difficulties, and people are divided along linguistic, political and sectarian lines.

“The Governor’s House is open to everyone, and efforts are being made to address the issues faced by the people,” Kamran Khan Tessori added.

The governor added that he has changed the system at the Governor’s House, in just a period of 20 months. He said that 2.2 million people have visited the Governor’s House, which is now open to the public 24/7.

Kamran Khan Tessori also said that a gate for the IT University has been built by demolishing a portion of the Governor’s House wall.

Earlier, the governor of Sindh announced a special cell during Muharram to facilitate immediate response to complaints from anywhere in the province.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting with religious leaders on July 5, he emphasised his personal commitment to resolving issues pertaining to road carpeting and other facilities during Muharram.

Kamran Khan Tessori also lauded the role of law enforcement agencies in ensuring security and peace in the province.

The governor also directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) to ensure that no water shortages happen during processions and Majalis.
