KARACHI: In view of the forthcoming General Elections in the country, the government of Sindh province on Thursday announced a four-day holidays for educational institutions across the province.
Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar approved a summary for holidays in all public, private, and semi-private educational institutions.
All public and private schools, colleges, and universities will be closed from February 6 to 9 for the parliamentary elections scheduled to take place on February 8 across the country.
Previously, on January 31, the provincial government had announced a public holiday on February 5 (Monday) throughout the province in observance of “Kashmir Solidarity Day.”
According to a notification from the provincial chief secretary, government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on February 5 to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir residing on both sides of the Line of Control and globally.
Educational institutions across Pakistan will enjoy an eight-day holiday period from February 4 to 12. February 4 being a Sunday, Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on the 5th, followed by holidays from February 6 to 10 due to the Pakistan vote. February 11, being a Sunday, will mark the end of the holiday period, with schools, colleges, and universities set to reopen on February 12.
