Sindh on Alert: Monsoon Rains Spark Urban Flooding Concerns in Karachi

ISLAMABAD:  The National Emergency Operations Center has issued an alert warning that the current monsoon system could impact Sindh province within the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the alert issued by the NDAM, areas including Karachi, Hyderabad, Kashmore, Umerkot, Badin, Thatta, Mithi, and Tharparkar are likely to face urban flooding and moderate inundation in streams and nullahs due to expected rainfall. People in vulnerable areas are urged to follow instructions from local authorities to lessen flood risks.

The National Emergencies Operation Center of NDMA had earlier also predicted flash floods in local streams and nullahs in Punjab, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Narowal, Sialkot, Galliyat, Murree, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Abbottabad.

Urban flooding is expected in major cities including Lahore, Narowal, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar. Similar risks extend to Swat, Dir, Kashmir, and DG Khan.
