KARACHI: In order to provide better transport facilities to the residents of Karachi, the government of Sindh on Friday announced to launch the Peoples Bus Service (PBS) on Lyari Expressway as well.
The Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon announced this while chairing a meeting held on the transport sector of Karachi. Initially, a survey will be conducted by the provincial government for the test drive of the People Bus Service on the Expressway. The minister has directed the transport officials to submit a report pertaining to the survey and test drive of the bus service by June 11.
Memon said in the meeting that the launch of bus service on the Lyari Expressway will reduce the traffic on other Karachi roads. He further said that the Sindh government was working tirelessly to resolve Karachi transport issues in Karachi.
PBS mobile app on the cards
Sindh Transport & Mass Transit Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon directed the authorities concerned to complete Peoples Bus Service mobile app work on a priority basis. He issued these directives while chairing a transport department meeting.
The Minister was briefed on the operation of the service bus, the ITS, its new routes, and the establishment of a command and control room. He further said that he directed the authorities concerned to activate the intelligent transport system (ITS) in all buses of the service.
