LAHORE: A boat carrying a group of people has capsized in Jhelum district of Punjab province on Thursday, drowning six of them.
The boat capsized in the Jhelum River near Pind Dadan Khan.
According to rescue officials, six people, including four children and two women, from the same family have lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.
Initial reports suggest that the boat was carrying more than 30 people, along with a carry-van, motorcycles, and other goods.
Following the incident, police and rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene to commence search and rescue operations.
This incident follows a similar tragedy on March 5, when a fishing boat carrying approximately 50 fishermen capsized in the Arabian Sea near Thatta, as reported by the Fisher Folk Forum.
According to the Coastal Media Centre spokesperson, the boat sank in the Hajamro Creek between Karachi and Thatta, resulting in the loss of lives.
