ISLAMABAD: At least seven people, including six policemen, lost their lives in a deadly road accident that occurred on the N-25 highway near Wadh Checkpost in Khuzdar, Balochistan. The incident took place when the vehicle in which the victims were traveling crashed into a parked truck, according to the initial reports.
DC Khuzdar, Ilyas Kabzai, confirmed that the six policemen were returning to their hometowns after completing their training. However, their bodies have not been identified yet. The tragic incident has left the entire police department and their families in mourning.
In a separate unfortunate incident on the same day, at least two people were killed and seven others injured in a collision between a passenger bus and a trailer at Karachi Superhighway. The incident occurred near the Lucky Cement factory, and the injured and deceased were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Rise in road accidents in Pakistan
As per the initial report, the cause behind both horrific incidents remained unknown. However, Pakistan has been witnessing a rise in traffic accidents, and in 2022 alone, around 780 people lost their lives in Karachi due to such accidents.
The authorities have expressed their deep sorrow and condolences to the bereaved families and ordered an immediate investigation into the accidents. They also urged drivers to follow traffic rules and regulations to avoid such incidents in the future.
