MURREE: The picturesque hill station of Murree is currently experiencing a combination of rain and snowfall, prompting the local administration to take proactive measures to address the situation.
According to a spokesperson from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), approximately 0.5 inches of snow has already fallen in the last three hours. Predicting heavy snowfall for the next three to five hours, the PDMA spokesperson emphasized the need for heightened vigilance and precautionary measures.
The snow-covered scenery of Galyat has attracted numerous tourists, drawing a significant influx of visitors who are eager to experience the enchanting live snowfall and the tranquil beauty of the area.
In response to the challenging weather conditions, the administration has initiated a series of actions to ensure public safety and maintain essential services. Salt is being strategically sprinkled on the roads to prevent ice formation, while heavy machinery is actively involved in removing accumulated snow.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, conducted a night-time inspection on Tuesday, visiting the control room, tourist facilitation centers, and various roads to assess the preparedness and arrangements in place for the influx of tourists.
