TAIYUAN, China: In Yuanqu, a county heavily impacted by snowfall in Shanxi Province, north China, primary schools, secondary schools, and kindergartens resumed classes on Wednesday following the restoration of the power supply.
Power outages occurred at 6:40 p.m. on December 13 when four high-voltage power transmission lines experienced faults and shutdowns due to persistent heavy snowfall, affecting around 120,000 households.
As of Tuesday, three of the affected power lines had been repaired, while efforts are ongoing to repair the remaining backup power line, as the State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company reported. Residential power supply has been reinstated, and the company is actively working to restore industrial power supply in the region. —Xinhua/APP
