Soldiers Among Eight Martyred in Suicide Blast in Northwestern Pakistan

PESHAWAR: At least eight people, including four policemen and two security personnel, were martyred and six others injured in a suicide attack on a check post in the North Waziristan district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, state-run news agency APP reported.

According to APP, a suicide bomber targeted a joint check post of security forces and police in the Eidak area of Mir Ali tehsil in North Waziristan on Saturday.

Police officials say that the attack involved a suicide bomber detonating an explosive-laden rickshaw at the checkpost, martyring four policemen, two security personnel, and two civilians.

The death toll may rise, as the condition of some injured is stated to be critical. The injured, including police officials, were taken to the hospital following a rescue operation.

In the aftermath, security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation in the area.
